Maintenance Supervisor

Role Description The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily building and facility maintenance operations across assigned properties in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. This on-site role includes coordinating and performing preventive maintenance, responding to service requests, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues. The Maintenance Supervisor schedules, directs, and evaluates maintenance staff and vendors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and local regulations. Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventories of supplies, monitoring building systems, assisting with inspections, and supporting improvement projects to enhance property performance and tenant satisfaction. This is a full-time position requiring regular interaction with property management, tenants, and contractors. Qualifications Strong skills in building systems maintenance, including basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair work. Experience supervising maintenance teams or contractors, including task delegation, scheduling, and performance oversight. Ability to manage work orders, prioritize multiple tasks, and ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance. Knowledge of safety practices, building codes, and regulatory requirements relevant to commercial and/or residential properties. Proficiency in using maintenance management software, mobile applications, and basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, reports). Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with tenants, vendors, and internal teams in a professional manner. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to be hands‑on with technical and physical tasks. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in a building trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical) is preferred. Ability to work on‑site in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
