Position Overview

Artists Ink is seeking a highly organized, creative, and solutions-oriented Project Manager to lead the planning, implementation, and management of public art and community-based projects. This role oversees large-scale creative initiatives including murals, public art installations, placemaking projects, community-based creative projects, and community celebrations,

The Project Manager works closely with artists, contractors, government agencies, community organizations, and residents to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with meaningful community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Implement Arts-Based Programs

• Developing and implementing project plans for public art installations
• Coordinating with artists, community organizations, and local government bodies
• Managing budgets and funding sources for public art projects
• Sourcing and procuring materials and resources necessary for the implementation of public art projects
• Overseeing the installation and maintenance of public art projects
• Ensuring all projects comply with local laws and regulations, including health and safety standards
• Developing and managing relationships with stakeholders, including artists, community organizations, and local government bodies
• Documenting and archiving project details for future reference and public information
• Organizing community engagement events related to public art projects
• Manages projects schedules and the overall annual calendar (with Program & Projects Director).
• Working in alignment with and in support of administrative needs

Creative Leadership and Team Collaboration

• Managing various projects and sites simultaneously
• Manages a large staff of project Coordinators and Mentors
• Attends weekly administrative and project meetings
• Leads weekly coordinator and Artist meetings
• Conduct staff training for project safety and readiness
• Oversee staff invoices and timesheets
• Provide conflict resolution support for staff and leadership
• Ensure all staff submit timecards, time-off requests, substitute requests
• Submit incident reports within 24 hours
• Mentor staff, interns, and volunteers to foster a collaborative culture
• Stay informed on trends in Public Arts, community development, and cultural equity
• Serve as a key Artists Ink administrative staff member

Community Engagement and Partnership Building

• Sustain relationships with project partners, and community to implement effective and impactful project
• Conducting site visits, coordinating partner meetings, conducting and retrieving start and ending survey evaluations
• Facilitates “Listening & Learning” forums with partners, and community to ensure programming is inclusive and reflects community needs
• Attend Public Arts Commissions on a quarterly basis
• Serve as an advocate for local artists and uplift their value and impact through participation and attendance at various local, state and national meetings pertaining to the arts and community
• Serve as a lead representative of Artists Ink to partners and community to foster trust and collaboration

Marketing & Outreach

• Provides all project descriptions and details to marketing in a timely manner
• Provides any updates regarding project timelines, descriptions or staffing to Marketing Department
• Attend Marketing meetings as necessary
• Coordinating outreach efforts in collaboration with marketing to ensure all info and table materials, or activities are secured
• Manages and communicates available staff hours for outreach

Project Evaluation, Documentation and Reporting

• Collaborate with the program & projects director to set clear goals and metrics for project impact
• Responsible for conducting on-site evaluations, collecting data, media, and other materials from projects as well as feedback from partners and community for continuous improvement and measures of success
• Provides Weekly reports to Admin
• Provides evaluation reports, surveys and data to Program & Projects Director
• In collaboration with Marketing, coordinating the schedule for the documentation team to conduct site-visits and interviews for the use of final project videos.

Strategic Planning and Resource Development

• Maintains project alignment with Artists Ink’s mission and long-term vision on the ground level.
• Support a healthy lifecycle of projects, partnerships, community celebrations, and events.

Requirements

• Experience managing public art, community development, construction, creative placemaking, or large-scale community projects.
• Strong project management and leadership experience.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing budgets and project resources.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and project planning tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with artists, public agencies, and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge of public art processes, permitting, fabrication, and installation.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, or related design software.
• Ability to read and understand design plans, renderings, and installation documents.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Compensation

Entry hourly rate $30

Expected hours per week : 20 to 30
