About the Role
The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join its dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the legal department, providing expert and timely legal guidance on a wide array of commercial matters. This role requires a proactive, solution-driven, and adaptable business counsel with a JD from an accredited law school and at least 15 years of legal experience, including a minimum of 10 years practicing in-house at a media company. The Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for offering legal and strategic advice across various areas, including intellectual property, real estate, construction, corporate governance, data privacy, content licensing, and commercial contracts. The ideal candidate will have exceptional drafting and communication skills, a high degree of professional ethics, and the ability to anticipate legal issues and risks. Key responsibilities for the Assistant General Counsel include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and policies, providing business-facing legal advice, and serving as a legal advisor to local exhibitions on a range of operational issues. The role also involves managing external counsel in litigation matters and assisting in building and refining legal processes as the company continues to grow. The candidate should be a resilient, focused problem solver, and a self-starter, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a complex, dynamic environment. Collaboration and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision are essential, as is a commitment to the company's values of collaborative creativity, provocative playfulness, and authentic compassion.
