The Senior Pressure Vessel Engineer provides mechanical engineering and structural analysis support on commercial and industrial HVAC products, primarily water and air-cooled chillers, including screw compressor and centrifugal compressor-based platforms. You will provide engineering support for product development, warranty, sales and pressure vessel manufacturing and also conduct ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and other related design calculations. You will have the opportunity to support several cross functional product development teams.This position is based at our Advanced Engineering and Development Center in New Freedom, PA. While we prefer candidates who are located in or near the area, we are open to considering remote candidates for the right individual.How you will do itProvide analysis for optimizing designs for chiller components including pressure vesselsProvide analysis support for ASME pressure vessel certification of JCI productsProvide analysis support for Canadian Pressure Vessel Registration (CRN)Develop field modification procedures for pressure vesselsPlan, schedule, coordinate bi-yearly updates to ASME pressure vessel calculationsReview patents and papers to understand the limits of technology and IP in the industryProvide root-cause analysis relating to warranty/service casesProvide technical leadership, mentorship and training to developing engineers What you will need RequiredBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering5+ years of experience in ASME pressure vessel or heat exchanger designUnderstanding of applicable pressure vessel design and test standards, including those of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The Canadian Standards Organization (CSA), The European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), American Petroleum Institute (API), Tubular Exchanger Manufactures Association (TEMA)Familiarity with other applicable codes and standards, such as: ASHRAE-15, ASCE-7, ASME B31, ASME PCC, NBIC, UL 207, UL 60335-2-40 Experienced in the use of finite element analysis (FEA), particularly ANSYS Mechanical or equivalentKnowledgeable in pressure vessel manufacturing and testing practicesAble to travel up to 10%Preferred Professional Engineer’s licenseHVAC industry experienceMaster's degree in an engineering related disciplineExperience with FEA tools for application to stress analysisHIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - 140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
