As a Lead Data & AI Platform Architect, you will help shape the future of our foundational data ecosystem by defining architecture strategies, reference patterns, and platform capabilities that enable trusted, scalable, and AI-ready data products.

You will serve as a senior technical leader across modern data platforms, working closely with architects, engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders. Through close collaboration with stakeholders, you will establish architectural standards, guide strategic investments, and accelerate the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.

In this role, you will help design and govern platforms that:

• Enable reusable, discoverable, and trusted data products.
• Support modern analytics, machine learning, and generative AI workloads.
• Balance reliability, performance, security, governance, and cost efficiency.
• Foster federated ownership while maintaining enterprise-wide standards and interoperability.

You will evaluate emerging technologies, develop reference implementations, and provide practical guidance on architecture patterns, platform engineering, data governance, and AI readiness. You will also help define testing and validation approaches that improve quality, reliability, and developer productivity across the data lifecycle.

Experience & Expertise

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• You have 10+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms, architecture strategies, and data management solutions.
• You have deep expertise with modern cloud data platforms and lakehouse architectures, including technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Dremio, and related ecosystem tooling.
• You have experience designing platforms that support data products, self-service analytics, machine learning, and generative AI use cases.
• You have strong understanding of distributed data processing, data engineering, metadata management, governance, observability, and platform operations.

Modern Architecture Leadership

• You have proven experience defining target-state architectures and roadmaps for enterprise data modernization initiatives.
• You have hands-on knowledge of modern architecture patterns, including: Lakehouse architectures, Data products and federated ownership models, Semantic and knowledge-layer approaches, Retrieval-augmented AI architectures, etc
• You have the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical guidance for engineering, product, and business teams.

AI-Ready Data Foundations

• You have experience designing architectures that enable trusted AI and machine learning outcomes through high-quality, governed data, with metadata and lineage capabilities, secure access patterns,and data quality controls.
• You are familiar with AI development frameworks, orchestration technologies, and cloud AI services.
• You have experience enabling responsible AI adoption through architecture, governance, and operational best practices.

Engineering & Testing Excellence

• You have a strong programming and engineering background, including Python, Spark, distributed data processing, and cloud-native development.
• You have experience establishing testing and validation strategies for modern data platforms.
• You are familiar with practices such as: Synthetic test data generation, Data quality validation, Automated testing and observability.
• You have the ability to balance innovation with security, compliance, operational resilience, and risk management.

Leadership & Influence

• You have demonstrated success building alignment across architecture, engineering, security, governance, and business teams.
• You have strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
• You have a passion for mentoring others, promoting architectural excellence, and establishing reusable standards and patterns.
• You are customer-focused mindset with a track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through technology investments.
• You have the ability to assess emerging technologies, identify strategic opportunities, and guide adoption decisions grounded in business value.

Southern California Base Salary Range: $201,683-$322,693 New York Base Salary Range: $213,795-$342,072

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
