FSQA Manager

Job Summary This role is responsible for leading all FSQA department activities and for developing and executing OSI’s food safety and quality strategy for our smaller/less complex plant facilities. The position works closely with operations and the NA FSQA team to drive OSI’s food safety culture in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment. Job Responsibilities Manages a team of 6‑15 employees, including hiring, performance management, and coaching. Leads the facility FSQA team and manages all food safety, quality and sanitation programs, as well as regulatory relationships. Ensures compliance with company standards, GFSI requirements, customer standards, and USDA/FDA regulations. Maintains complete and accurate records for all government requirements and FSQA programs through staff management. Serves as the facility lead and technical liaison for all FSQA audits and customer visits. Monitors and audits sanitation processes, recommending changes to meet standards and reviewing performance/ KPIs with plant cross‑functional teams weekly. Investigates and documents customer complaints. Collaborates with Plant Management on Root Cause Analysis for ongoing or unforeseen issues; leads the Corrective Action Program for FSQA opportunities. Compiles and analyzes quality performance data, develops reports and recommendations for management. Participates in project teams related to new product/process development and new equipment installation, providing quality impact analyses and participating in plant trials and product commercialization. Maintains HACCP and Food Safety Plans, ensuring appropriate hazards are addressed and up‑to‑date scientific documentation is used. Oversees site and/or third‑party analytical and microbiological laboratories and associated testing. Reviews quality agreements and acts as subject‑matter expert for site FSQA, liaising with customers and suppliers. Maintains a comprehensive FSQA training program across the site, ensuring documentation is current. Develops and leads the internal FSQA department, coaching, hiring, training, and conducting performance reviews against measurable objectives. Keeps personal knowledge of current and emerging government food regulations and industry trends. Available to work occasional weekends as required. Ensures appropriate safety procedures are implemented, including education, training, protective equipment, and adherence to safety policies and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience & Skills 10+ years of experience in a related field is preferred. Experience in USDA‑FSIS regulated products and industry best practice is required. Knowledge of the FDA regulatory framework is preferred. Competency with digital manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement tools (LEAN/Six Sigma) is preferred. Previous people‑leadership roles with multi‑shift direct reports. Progressive leadership roles within quality organizations with a proven track record of success. Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstrated team‑building success. Passion for building, developing, and leading diverse teams. Effective written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels. Excellent organizational skills and judgment, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑changing environment. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Education BA/BS or equivalent is required. Bachelors or better. Preferred Certifications Certifications in HACCP, PCQI and GFSI are preferred. Work Conditions Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people, and conveyors. Typical office and plant environment conditions. Requires 10% domestic travel. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. May require frequent or infrequent bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use of hands or fingers, talking, hearing, feeling objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring. May require standing/walking for greater than 4 hours.
