IELTS Speaking Examiner

Role - To carry out assessments for the IELTS Speaking module, maintaining the standards required by the IELTS Professional Support Network (PSN) and the British Council. Main Accountability - The post holder will be responsible for delivery of IELTS oral interviews, and will work closely with the examiner support teams. Responsibilities Conduct IELTS Speaking tests Mark IELTS Speaking tests Ensure certification is up to date and attend Examiner training, standardization and certification sessions as required Adhere to the IELTS Professional Support Network and British Council policies Participate in Examiner meetings and other relevant meetings as required Qualifications and Expectations Undergraduate or Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification of at least three years full‑time academic study) TEFL/TESOL qualification from a recognised institution (Certificate level minimum) or EFL/ESOL-related studies as part of an undergraduate/post‑graduate award (minimum Certificate level) Degree in Education supported by an undergraduate degree focused on English language All qualifications validated by a reputable institution and accredited by a professional certification board Provide original certificates for all qualifications At least three years full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) relevant TESOL teaching experience, with the majority relating to adult students (16 years and over) Teaching experience must include at least one year post‑certificate level qualification if the EFL/ESOL qualification is Certificate level, or can precede the qualification if the EFL/ESOL qualification is Diploma level or higher Professional Attributes and Interpersonal Skills Completes tasks accurately and with sufficient detail Observes the need for confidentiality and security Responds positively to guidance and advice Acts professionally at all times Communicates effectively with colleagues and candidates, treating others with respect Is sensitive to cultural differences Equal Opportunity The British Council is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
