Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality EngineerDepartment: Quality Reports To: Quality Manager Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Location: Concord, CA; 100% onsitePosition Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team with a strong focus on Supplier Quality Management, Internal Auditing, and AS9100 compliance. This role supports product quality and manufacturing processes within our aerospace environment. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve processes. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in quality engineering principles, demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, and shows a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This 100% in-office role is based in Concord, CA and will occasionally require travel to support business needs. Expected travel frequency is <10%.Key Responsibilities:Lead Supplier Quality activities, including supplier evaluations, audits, approval processes, performance monitoring, and corrective actions as needed.Conduct root cause analysis and drive effective RCCA with suppliers to prevent recurrence of nonconformances.Execute and maintain the internal audit schedule to ensure compliance with AS9100, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements.Prepare and document audit findings, track corrective actions, and verify the effectiveness of implemented improvements.Participate in external audits (customer and certification body) and support audit readiness activities.Assist in MRB (Material Review Board) activities, including documentation and tracking.Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis.Work with production teams to address quality issues on the manufacturing floor.Support inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process, including the execution, documentation and verification of First Article Inspections (FAI).Assist with customer return investigations and documentation.Track, report, and present quality metrics such as scrap and nonconformance trends.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience).3-5 years of experience in Quality Engineering within manufacturing or a regulated industry.Foundational understanding of AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.Hands-on experience with supplier quality activities.Ability to interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T requirements.Working knowledge of standard quality tools (e.g., 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone, RCCA).Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with suppliers, team members, and management.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident).Preferred Qualifications:Formal audit certification is a plus.Direct experience leading supplier audits or managing supplier performance metrics.Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S concepts.Proficiency with ERP/MRP and PLM systems.Energetic and quick to adapt to changing business needs.Physical Requirements:Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.*This Job Description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that may be asked to perform from time to time.
