Travel Registered Nurse Cardio IC

You will be working as a Travel RN in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, caring for a mixed acuity patient population. The unit has 18 beds and supports complex cardiac cases.

Job Overview

• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, weekends as scheduled

About the Unit

• 18 beds with mixed acuity, including Step Down and ICU status patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for fresh hearts and devices, 1:2 for ICU status, and 1:3 for step down status
• PCTs available, with 1-2 per shift
• Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house
• Respiratory therapy present 24/7
• Monitors watched by techs off unit, but RNs address alarms and read their own strips
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling requests allowed, but may be changed to meet unit needs
• Orientation lasts 1 week, including modules and training
• Scrub color is royal blue

Requirements

• 2 years of experience
• ACLS (AHA) certification
• BLS (AHA) certification
• Experience with fresh open heart patients and >6 hours post-op open heart patients
• CRRT experience
• Temporary pacemaker and post-permanent pacer experience
• Acute MI pre/post cath experience
• Mediastinal/chest tubes experience
• Ventilator experience
• Hypothermia protocol experience
• Experience with arterial lines
• Must have experience with specific titratable drips

Preferred Qualifications

• Fresh open heart experience preferred
• IABP/Impella experience preferred
• Hemodynamic monitoring/Swan-Ganz experience preferred
