This role involves monitoring fleet vehicles, drivers, and passengers to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and addressing performance issues through coaching and corrective actions. The **Field Safety Manager** also supports continuous improvement efforts by providing leadership and feedback to drivers and team members.**Location: 829 West Silverlake Road, Tucson, AZ 85713****What you’ll do:*** Lead, supervise and mentor drivers to maintain safe, reliable, and compliant operations* Manage a consistent safety culture that incorporates various departments, such as operations, safety and maintenance* Monitor and manage the Operator’s performance in the field* Provide on-the-spot coaching to drivers to reinforce safe driving practices and adherence to company policies* Identify performance issues and take appropriate corrective action, up to termination* Conduct routine field observations of transit routes, vehicles, and drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations* Monitor driver compliance with company policies, federal, state, and local regulations* Respond promptly to on-route incidents, such as accidents, breakdowns, or passenger disturbances* Document and report safety-related incidents, hazards, or violations* Ensure compliance with safety standards, including pre-trip inspections, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to speed limits* Audit and verify compliance with ADA requirements and other regulatory standards* Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements* Assist in coordinating emergency response efforts when required* Communicate safety updates, new policies, and performance feedback to drivers and other team members* Partner with the Safety Manager to develop individualized performance improvement plans for drivers with recurring issues* Conduct follow-ups to ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively* Promote a culture of accountability and safety awareness among staff* Collaborate with training teams to reinforce safety and operational training for drivers* Act as a mentor and leader to drivers, fostering professional growth and adherence to company values* Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Safety Manager, including details of incidents, coaching efforts, and corrective actions taken**What you’ll need:*****Experience, Education & Certifications:**** High School Diploma or G.E.D.* Must be 21 years of age or older* Must have and maintain a valid Arizona CDL with Passenger Endorsement* No reckless driving offenses within the past 5 years* No DUI or DWI convictions* No convictions involving moral turpitude within the past 5 years* Possess valid authorization to work in the United States* Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and pre-employment drug screening* Must pass criminal background check and investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check* Minimum 5 years of transit/paratransit safety management experience* A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a driver in similar service* A minimum of one (1) year experience in Dispatch or Road Supervision* Extensive knowledge in on-the-road service management* Thorough knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations – ADA, FTA and DOT to include all corporate programs***Skills:**** Knowledge of DOT and FTA safety regulations* Knowledge of accident investigation* Knowledge of Safety and training practices and procedures* Ability to communicate, teach and mentor employees* Must be able to demonstrate conflict resolution skills* Quick to process information and make adjustments or recommendations* Skills in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications* Strong organizational and analytical skills* Ability to read, write and speak English* Ability to obtain future certifications as defined within the location contract* Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments* Ability to work independently and objectively* Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff* Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality**Even better if you have...*** Previous experience in paratransit location preferred* Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field preferred**What’s in it for you:*** Health and Life Insurance Plans* Dental and Vision Plans* 401(k) with a company match* Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay* Maternity/Paternity Leave* Casual Dress Environment* Tuition Reimbursement* MTM Perks Discount Program* Leadership Mentoring Opportunities**Salary: $47,000***This information reflects the base salary pay range for this job based on current national market data.
