The Banquet Captain supports the successful execution of banquets, weddings, meetings, social events, and other private functions at El Encanto. Serving as the on-floor service leader during assigned events, the Banquet Captain coordinates banquet team members, communicates event requirements, and helps ensure each function is executed according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), established service standards, and guest expectations. Working closely with Banquet Management, Catering & Events, Culinary, Stewarding, and other hotel departments, the Banquet Captain helps coordinate event setup, service timing, food and beverage service, guest requests, event transitions, and breakdown. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who leads by example, remains composed in a fast-paced luxury environment, and demonstrates strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and personalized service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Event Operations & Execution:

• Review BEOs, floorplans, event timelines, menus, beverage requirements, guest counts, VIP information, allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests before assigned functions.
• Verify event setup and readiness, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, service stations, bars, buffets, meeting materials, and other event requirements.
• Coordinate event flow and service timing with Banquet Management, Catering & Events, Culinary, Stewarding, and other operating departments.
• Monitor assigned functions from setup through breakdown to ensure BEO requirements and El Encanto service standards are consistently executed.
• Communicate event changes, timing adjustments, guest-count changes, additional charges, or operational concerns promptly to the appropriate leader.
• Ensure assigned events are properly closed, including breakdown, equipment return, service-station cleanup, documentation, and communication of outstanding follow-up items.

Team Leadership & Service Standards:

• Conduct or support pre-shift meetings to communicate assignments, service sequence, timing, menu information, allergies, special requests, and event-specific expectations.
• Provide on-floor direction to banquet servers, bartenders, server assistants, and other assigned team members throughout the event.
• Assign tables, stations, side work, setup, service, and breakdown responsibilities as directed by Banquet Management.
• Lead by example through professional appearance, polished communication, urgency, attention to detail, teamwork, and personalized guest service.
• Monitor service execution and provide immediate coaching or redirection when established standards are not being met.
• Support the onboarding and training of banquet team members and communicate performance, attendance, safety, or conduct concerns to Banquet Management.

Food & Beverage Service and the Guest Experience:

• Maintain a visible presence throughout assigned events, anticipate guest and client needs, and respond promptly and professionally to requests or concerns.
• Coordinate food and beverage service to maintain appropriate timing, presentation, temperature, service sequence, and consistency with event requirements.
• Ensure allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests are properly communicated and handled according to established procedures.
• Support responsible alcoholic beverage service and ensure applicable identification, food-safety, sanitation, and responsible beverage service requirements are followed.
• Own guest concerns through resolution and involve management promptly when additional service recovery or leadership support is required.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe, and guest-ready banquet and service areas throughout the event and promptly report incidents, injuries, property damage, equipment issues, shortages, or other significant concerns.

Salary Range - $19.50 + Service Charge
