TRAINING SPECIALIST - MEDICAL ASSISTING MALCOLM X COLLEGE Malcolm X College is currently seeking a qualified full-time Training Specialist for our Medical Assistantdepartment. The Medical Assistant (MA)Program is delivered across multiple locations, including ProvidentHospital, Malcolm X College, and Malcolm X College West Campus.Positions within the program report directly to the administrationat Malcolm X College. The Medical Assistant (MA) Program prepares students for employmentas Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered MedicalAssistants (RMA) in a variety of healthcare settings, includingclinics, physician offices, hospitals, home health agencies, andlong-term care facilities. The program is approved by the MedicalEducation Review Board (MAERB), and successful completion of theprogram qualifies graduates to sit for national certificationexaminations leading to CMA or RMA credentials. The School of Health Sciences and Career Programs at Malcolm XCollege (MXC) is currently seeking full-time TrainingSpecialists for its Medical Assistant (MA) Program. A Medical Assistant (MA) Training Specialist is responsiblefor planning and delivering classroom, laboratory, and clinicalinstruction that prepares students for careers as MedicalAssistants. This position provides students with the foundationalknowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies needed todeliver quality patient care and succeed in a healthcareenvironment. The Training Specialist also prepares students fornational certification examinations and workforce entry as MedicalAssistants. Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Delivers instruction through classroom lectures, laboratorydemonstrations, skills practice, and supervised clinical sessionsat designated health care facilities, including hospitals, nursinghomes, and long-term care facilities. Develops and maintains course syllabus and instruction materials to support student learning outcomes (SLOs) in accordancewith Medical Education Review Board (MAERB) guidelines. Provides students with course syllabus, including course outline,grading standards, attendance policies, and classroomexpectations. Leads in Medical Assistant (MA) curriculum review, development,and updates. Prepares lesson plans and facilitate student learning usingappropriate instructional methods to develop medical assistingknowledge and skills. Maintains student attendance and grading records in compliancewith the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) policies andprocedures. Develops examinations, assignments, and other assessment tools toevaluate student learning and competency. Evaluates student progress and provides students with timely andconstructive feedback. Completes student evaluations and ensures timely and accuratesubmission of grades and other instructional documentation. Maintains a purposeful, organized, safe, and healthy laboratoryand classroom environment. Collaborates with the Program Director and Associate Dean toaddress instructional, operational, and student-relatedissues. Serves as an accessible mentor and faculty advisor to MedicalAssistant (MA) Program students. Participates in departmental meetings, assessment activities, special projects, and other program-related initiatives. Contributes to departmental and institutional committees. Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students'intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solvingskills. Helps students reach their academic, personal, and career goalsand fosters a safe environment that respects the diversity ofindividuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students andconveying confidence in every student's ability to learn. Participates in accreditation and compliance activities,including meetings with the Commission onAccreditation of Allied Health Professions (CAAHEP) evaluatorsduring unannounced monitoring visits and the provides requireddocumentation in accordance with CAAHEP guidelines. Adheres to City Colleges of Chicago board rules, policies,procedures, and code of ethics. QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university inMedical Assisting or other healthcare related field required.Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Current and valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or RegisteredMedical Assistant (RMA) credential required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)certification required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant inat least one of the following areas: Teaching theory in the Commission on Accreditation of AlliedHealth Professions (CAAHEP)-approved medical assistant trainingprogram; or Providing medical assistant care, including personal care andactivities of daily living, to older adults or chronically illadults. Must be able to complete a Commission on Accreditation of AlliedHealth Professions (CAAHEP)-approved workshop refresher courseevery five years. Experience with a diverse student population preferred, with acommitment to the open access mission of the communitycollege. Knowledge of medical assisting principles, clinical procedures,and healthcare industry standards. Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management Systempreferred. Demonstrated excellence in teaching in classroom, laboratory, andclinical learning environments, with the ability to inspire,motivate, and empower students to achieve academic and professionalsuccess. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills,with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty,staff, and external partners. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative workingrelationships with diverse internal and externalstakeholders. Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment thatsupports students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ability to work at and travel between multiple instructionallocations and campuses during a semester as assigned, including butnot limited to: MXC main campus, MXC West Side Campus, MXC SouthCampus, and MXC Provident Hospital Campus. Ability and willingness to teach late afternoon, evening,weekend, and summer courses as needed. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000 Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education.
