The SCO Operations Manager oversees all day-to-day operations for their assigned clinical program or assigned facilities. This position manages and directs supply chain services for assigned facility to include replenishment, put-away, receiving, distribution, and special orders. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of system initiatives and continuous improvement programs throughout their assigned facilities or clinical program including the monitoring and utilization of key performance indicators associated with projects. This position plans, organizes, directs, and staffs to maintain and improve functions. The incumbent ensures optimal utilization of Materials Management programs and SCO policies and procedures to reduce costs to facilities and patients.

Scope This position interacts directly with Intermountain Healthcare facility caregivers including leadership, end-users, and other stakeholders. The incumbent is oversees all Supply Chain logistics including, inventory management, Continuous Improvement, Safety, and Staffing for assigned facilities. Local position level and corresponding grade level is determined by leveling guidance documentation maintained by SCO Operations leadership with support of Human Resources. Job Essentials 1. MATERIALS MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS: Oversees day-to-day operations of Materials Management activities for assigned departments, clinical programs and facility(s). Proactively interacts with physicians, managers, suppliers, clinical program leadership, and SCO personnel. Is accountable for the timely and efficient management of all supplies and services in all assigned teams and departments. Oversees inventory management, contract compliance, product substitutes, standardization, and budget control. Ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and utilizes processes, reports, and other tools on a routine basis. Ensures that staff is trained and certified in applicable system Inventory Tools. Actively works with assigned departments or service lines to achieve an awareness of their needs. 2. CLIENT RELATIONS: Works with assigned departments or clinical service lines to support supply logistics needs including implementation, recall and alert management, and regulatory requirements to achieve optimal outcomes and patient safety for assigned clinical program or facilities. Works with members of the medical staff, front-line caregivers, peers, patients, and the public to resolve problems and find opportunities to improve processes and workflow. 3. PLANNING & ORGANIZING: Supports and monitors product utilization and ensures that resources are compliant with standardized processes and workflows. Works actively with departments and supply chain leadership to determine the best operational methods to maximize the utilization of materials management functions. 4. PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT: Staffs the department and is responsible for training, work planning, organizing, and staff scheduling. Utilizes Dashboards and Huddle Boards to ensure staff understand identified measures and activities pertaining to their daily activities. Responsible for the selection, interviewing, hiring, on boarding, training, and development of staff. Conducts performance appraisals, coaches and counsels team, develops appropriate goals with employees, and provides corrective action programs as needed. Develops and reviews performance standards for performance reviews. Provides productive departmental staff meetings. Directs and leads staff to ensure the team is meeting department goals. Understands and values both individual and team development activities. 5. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Works to identify opportunities to improve efficiency in logistics activities for inventory stakeholders. Supports operational cost containment by participating in or leading workgroups or teams. Understands how to measure and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the SCO workflow and processes by engaging in the Continuous Improvement Program. 6. SAFETY: Ensures that systems, tools, and processes are organized and implemented in a safe and effective manner. Supports system Safety Programs and works to ensure zero harm initiatives are used to reduce or eliminate caregiver injuries. 7. FINANCE/BUDGET: Is responsible for the department budget to ensure financial viability. Coordinates with clinical program regarding inventory metrics and spend. Understands and monitors the IBUs / facilities expenses to assure optimal Net Operating Income. Monitors facility Inventory Business Unit (IBU) Values to ensure optimal service levels are met. Pursues cost containment or revenue generating ideas, programs, and equipment opportunities. Prepares and provides reports and financial analysis of departments for finance, administration, clinical program, and supply chain director as needed. Ensures that assigned inventories are being optimized through the appropriate use of systems, tools, processes, and staff to provide the lowest total cost of supplies to our guests. 8. ADMINISTRATION CONTROL: Represents the SCO to the assigned facilities or clinical program in collaborating with facility and system managers and leadership. Participates in and supports facility meetings, huddles, committees, or other initiatives that benefit from SCO presence or services. Accountable for the overall SCO or Materials Management compliance with Safety, Legal, TJC, Facility or SCO regulations, laws, or other requirements. Effectively participates in and leads Error-Prevention Techniques for the department to ensure that services provided are safe and effective in meeting caregiver need. Understands and reviews SOP's, policies and procedures, and guidelines annually to ensure understanding, correctness, and appropriateness. Helps to ensure contract compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five years of Warehouse/Inventory experience

• Three years of Supply Chain experience

• Five years of management experience with direct reports in a team environment

• Experience organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

• Computer experience including working knowledge of basic tools such as spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, etc.

• Demonstrated intermediate working knowledge of accounting principles

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written

• Inventory Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree obtained through an accredited institution

• Professional certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, Forklift Operator, etc.

• Experience in a role working with healthcare supplies

• Experience with medical supply products

• Experience in Sterile Processing

Physical Requirements:

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, etc. and to see to identify equipment and supplies.

• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing, operating telephones, and other office equipment.

• Expected to bend, lift, and carry patient files, documents, equipment, and supplies.

• Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time while interacting with others or to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
