Sr. Manager, Outside Sales – Purchase Order Solutions

The Role

OOCL Logistics is seeking an experienced supply chain sales professional to develop new business for our Purchase Order Management and broader 3PL and 4PL solutions. This is a true hunter role focused on acquiring new customers and building strategic relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, importers, sourcing organizations, procurement leaders, and supply chain decision-makers in Illinois and surrounding markets.

The primary focus is selling Purchase Order Management solutions that improve supplier collaboration, purchase-order visibility, milestone tracking, and exception management. Based on each customer’s needs, this position will also introduce complementary services such as supplier management, supply chain visibility, ocean and air freight, trucking, intermodal rail, warehousing, customs brokerage, and managed transportation.

The ideal candidate has an established network within manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, or global supply chain management and experience selling complex solutions beyond transactional freight services.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of successful outside sales or business development experience within a global 3PL, 4PL, freight forwarder, or supply chain solutions provider
• Established network of manufacturers, suppliers, importers, sourcing organizations, procurement leaders, or supply chain decision-makers in Illinois or surrounding markets
• Proven success prospecting, developing, and closing new business
• Experience selling Purchase Order Management, supplier management, supply chain visibility, freight forwarding, managed transportation, procurement technology, or other integrated supply chain solutions
• Strong understanding of how purchase orders connect with suppliers, transportation, customs, warehousing, inventory, and final delivery
• Working knowledge of ocean freight, air freight, truckload, LTL, intermodal rail, and customs brokerage
• Experience managing complex sales cycles involving procurement, sourcing, logistics, finance, technology, and executive stakeholders
• Strong consultative selling, executive presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned market and as business needs require

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business for OOCL Logistics’ Purchase Order Management and broader 3PL and 4PL solutions
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of manufacturers, importers, sourcing organizations, and supply chain prospects
• Lead customer discovery meetings to understand purchase-order, supplier, transportation, visibility, and risk-management needs
• Position Purchase Order Management as the initial solution and identify opportunities to add complementary logistics services
• Develop customer-specific proposals and presentations that communicate operational and financial value
• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through solution development, negotiation, and closing
• Collaborate with internal pricing, operations, technology, and implementation teams to develop practical and executable solutions
• Support the transition of new customers from sales through implementation

All employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. 

The annualized base salary for this position ranges from $115,000.00 to $123,000.00 excluding fringe benefits.  If hired at OOCL Logistics, the final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors, we also consider internal equity as part of any final offer.  Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  All full-time employees enjoy these outstanding benefits, while in a safe, friendly, clean, business casual office environment.
