Job DescriptionJob Title: Industrial Controls Engineer\nLocation: Niles, Ohio\nSchedule: Monday – Friday\nEmployment Type: Full-Time, Salaried\nReports To: Director of Maintenance and Engineering\n\nOverview: We are seeking a skilled Industrial Controls Engineer to support and enhance our manufacturing operations, with a focus on extrusion equipment. This role requires hands-on experience with Allen Bradley control systems and leveraging process data to drive continuous improvement.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems.\n Program and modify control logic to optimize equipment performance and reliability.\n Implement and support industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, etc.).\n Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with existing equipment.\n Develop strategies for real-time equipment monitoring, including sensor selection and data integration.\n Design and implement SCADA systems to continuously evaluate equipment efficiencies.\n Maintain documentation for control systems, wiring diagrams, and software configurations.\n Identify obsolete controls and components and provide migration plans to derisk.\n Accountable for technical support and daily problem solving/root cause analysis.\n Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and asset availability.\n Coordinate with vendors and contractors and act as technical lead to support capital projects.\n Periodically report or present information relevant to efficiency/reliability improvement.\n Support strategic initiatives to leverage AI and machine learning.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.\n 3+ experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), RSLogix/Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View.\n Strong understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and electrical schematics.\n Experience with condition-based monitoring platforms (e.g., vibration analysis tools, SCADA systems).\n Ability to analyze equipment performance data and identify predictive maintenance opportunities.\n Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to carry out written or oral tasks.\n Strong communication and collaboration with the ability to adapt messaging based on the audience.\n Highly organized and able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n Experience with CMMS and open API formats.\n Experience working with hydraulic systems, preferably extrusion presses.\n High-level understanding of basic Lean/Six Sigma principles.\n Familiarity with data analytics tools or platforms (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or cloud-based solutions).\n Experience implementing machine learning.\n Experience with robotics is a bonus.\n\n\nBenefits:\n\n Competitive salary, dependent on experience\n Health, dental, and vision insurance\n Retirement plan options\n Paid time off and holidays\n Opportunities for professional development and advancement\n\n
