Position Summary:

The HR Operations and Payroll Specialist is a key player in our Human Resources team, focusing on ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, efficient onboarding of new hires, and the seamless execution of daily HR operations. This role is central to upholding HR policies, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring our company complies with payroll laws and regulations. Moreover, as the primary point of contact for employee queries, this role demands a high level of professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality. This role supports all of our employees at our Port Townsend Location.

Position Responsibilities:

• Payroll Administration:
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll for all employees.
  • Address and resolve any payroll discrepancies promptly.
  • Timely reconciliation of benefit accounts.
• Onboarding Facilitation:
  • Coordinate comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires.
  • Facilitate smooth integration into company culture and clarity in role expectations.
• HR Operations Oversight:
  • Manage and execute daily HR tasks and activities.
  • Implement and uphold HR policies and procedures for operational efficiency and legal compliance.
• Employee Support:
  • Act as the primary contact for all employee HR-related questions.
  • Manage all leaves of absences.
  • Provide confidential and empathetic support and guidance.
• Compliance and Policies:
  • Oversee compliance with legal and contractual HR obligations.
  • Regularly update and communicate HR policies to employees.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Evaluate and enhance HR processes and systems.
  • Drive increased efficiency and effectiveness within HR operations.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR operations, with a significant emphasis on payroll management and onboarding.
• Strong understanding of HR practices, policies, and compliance with legal standards.
• Proficient in HRIS and payroll software.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Experience with HR practices in both the US and Canada is beneficial.

Employment Terms

• Full-time, Non-Exempt position
• Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000 DOE.
• Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance.
• 2 weeks paid vacation.
• Full-time employees receive 160 hours of sick leave upon hire and then earn eight hours of sick leave per month.
