The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in

the setup and operation of die casting machines and related production equipment. This position provides

day-to-day leadership on the assigned shift and is responsible for maintaining a safe, productive, and

organized work environment while meeting established production, quality, and delivery requirements.

The Shift Supervisor leads employees by providing direction, support, training, and accountability while

working closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Human Resources to resolve

issues and maintain efficient production.

Production & Operations

· Oversee and assist with the daily operation of the die casting department to ensure production

requirements are met safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.

· Assign employees to workstations and daily responsibilities based on production requirements,

employee qualifications, staffing levels, and business needs.

· Monitor production throughout the shift and take appropriate action to address downtime,

production delays, staffing issues, equipment problems, or other obstacles affecting output.

· Ensure die casting machines and related equipment are operated according to established work

instructions, operating procedures, and safety requirements.

· Be capable of performing the essential functions of the employees being supervised and provide

hands-on assistance when needed.

· Monitor machine performance, production rates, scrap, downtime, and other key production

measures.

· Identify opportunities to improve production methods, equipment performance, workflow,

efficiency, and overall manufacturing processes.

· Work with Maintenance, Engineering, and other departments to identify and resolve equipment

and process issues.

· Ensure proper procedures are followed during machine start-up, shutdown, changeovers, and

other production activities.

Safety

· Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on the assigned shift.

· Monitor work areas for unsafe conditions, behaviors, and practices and take immediate corrective action when necessary.

· Ensure employees understand and follow applicable machine guarding, lockout/tagout, housekeeping, and other safety requirements.

· Report workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly and in accordance with company procedures.

· Lead by example and reinforce the expectation that safety is a shared responsibility for all employees.

Quality

· Reinforce company quality standards and ensure employees follow established process controls, work instructions, and inspection requirements.

· Monitor product quality and respond promptly to defects, process abnormalities, or other quality concerns.

· Work with Quality personnel to identify root causes and implement corrective actions when quality issues occur.

· Help ensure that nonconforming material is properly identified, contained, and handled according to company procedures.

· Promote a culture in which quality is the responsibility of every employee.

Employee Leadership & Accountability

· Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to employees to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.

· Motivate employees and maintain a professional, respectful, and productive work environment. · Establish and reinforce expectations for attendance, punctuality, performance, teamwork, safety, quality, and workplace conduct.

· Address performance and behavioral issues promptly and consistently. · Promote a culture of accountability, responsibility, teamwork, and mutual respect.

· Identify workplace conflicts, interpersonal issues, or disruptive behavior and address them appropriately. Escalate significant or unresolved issues to Human Resources and management.

· Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding employee, production, quality, and company information.

Training & Documentation

· Maintain accurate production, training, attendance, and other required shift records.

· Ensure employees receive appropriate training and understand their assigned responsibilities and work procedures.afety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and safe

operating practices.

· Maintain accurate and timely entries in the shift log, including production issues, equipment problems, quality concerns, safety issues, staffing matters, and other significant events. · Provide clear and effective communication during shift handoffs to ensure continuity between shifts. · Communicate relevant information to Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, and other departments as necessary.

Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety, quality, equipment reliability, housekeeping, and overall operational efficiency.

· Make recommendations regarding production methods, equipment performance, staffing, workflow, and process improvements.

· Support company continuous-improvement initiatives and assist with implementation of approved improvements.

· Encourage employees to identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
