Job TitleProvide necessary in-house legal services.QualificationsRequired Work Experience:5 year(s) of experience in the legal fieldRequired Education:Juris DoctorateRequired Licenses:Active, current, and unrestricted license to practice law in the State of Arizona or licensure in another jurisdiction and ability to become licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona.Required Certifications:Admission to State BarPreferred Work Experience:8 year(s) of experience in a legal field3 years of experience in the healthcare industryPreferred Education:Master's Degree in business or related field of studyEssential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesNegotiate and draft contracts, including software licensing agreements, health care provider contracts and supplier contracts.Provide legal counsel to the following BCBSAZ areas: Information Technology (including Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity), Procurement, Business Continuity, Transparency & Interoperability, Marketing (including Digital Marketing)Manage Vendor Contract Forms; regularly evaluate Form language updating when needed.Manage and provide consultation with Related Party Agreements (other than those for Medicare and Medicaid entities).Advise various BCBSAZ divisions/departments concerning healthcare and corporate issues including statutory and regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance, and prospective corrective actionSupport company activities related to the No Surprises Act.Coordinate responses to DOI, attorney, provider, and member complaints, including drafting responses, reviewing responses drafted by paralegal and/or research assistants, and consulting with other BCBSAZ employees on responses.Gather and analyze data for special risk management projects.Work with Internal Audit and other departments regarding fraud investigation and prosecution.Regularly engage with internal clients on business and operational needs and goals with potential legal impacts and provide legal advice on options for achieving objectives.CompetenciesRequired Job Skills:Intermediate skill in use of office equipment, including copies, fax machines, scanner and telephonesIntermediate PC proficiencyIntermediate proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processingRequired Professional Competencies:Maintain confidentiality and privacyAnalytical knowledge necessary to generate reports based on available data and then make decisions based on reported dataCapable of legal and analytical researchPractice interpersonal and active listening to achieve high customer satisfaction and departmental communication standardsEstablish and maintain working relationships in a collaborative team environmentRequired Leadership Experience and Competencies:Make use of employees' skill and abilities to deliver business objectivesOur Commitment:AZ Blue does not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status or any other protected group.Thank you for your interest in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.
