Training Specialist for Healthcare Simulation Job Details Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), California Security Requirements: DoD Secret Clearance Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000 Benefits Offered Medical Life Insurance 401k Dental Job Objective To provide Training Specialist(s) for Healthcare Simulation (Mannequin and/or Tissue-based) to the Defense Health Agency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego (NMCSD). This requirement encompasses training of deploying operational personnel as well as education and training to meet annual requirements. Located in the Bioskills & Simulation Training Center (BSTC) of NMCSD, the trainer(s) will provide support to the BSTC’s medical, surgical, tactical simulation training, research, and education, and perform some administrative duties. Key Responsibilities Deliver training sessions on healthcare simulation using mannequins and tissue-based models. Support medical, surgical, and tactical simulation training, research, and education activities. Perform administrative duties related to simulation training operations. Assist in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and configuration. Provide technical assistance and customer support to user personnel. Ensure compliance with safety, ethical, and regulatory standards, including handling cadavers. Minimum Qualifications Must possess or be able to obtain a Society for Simulation Healthcare CHSOS certification, Surgical Technician certification, or Bioskills Lab Technician certification. Experience troubleshooting audio-visual equipment. 1-2 years experience as a technical course instructor/facilitator in surgical technology, bioskills, or simulation technology. Comfortable working with cadavers and adhere to ethical and safety guidelines. Exposure to medical operational training requirements. Professional medical training (e.g., Navy Corpsman, EMT, Surgical Technician, Nurse) preferred. Preferred Qualifications Customer service/support experience for technical information. Extensive knowledge of adult, pediatric, and neonatal simulators and their systems administration. Proven training methodology and educational strategy skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to large groups. Knowledge of 3D virtual simulators. Familiarity with medical terminology across various specialties. Knowledge of Military Treatment Facility and Joint Commission safety practices. Ability to perform precision hand movements and handle equipment exceeding 75 lbs.; ability to handle 150 lbs. training mannequin. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database maintenance; experience with both Windows and Macintosh.
