Sonographer - Senior

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams on research participants. Responsible for the independent operations of sonography equipment and communicating results of diagnostic and research examinations using sonography.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review, train, and coach junior-level sonographers on all processes and procedures. Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic and research information to physicians. Perform diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams according to established guidelines. Perform high-quality echocardiographic exams and collaborate with the cardiology staff to make accurate diagnoses of complex congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities. Provide preliminary reports for diagnostic assessments to physicians. Provide optimal service to patients while respecting and demonstrating patient confidentiality. Assist with research activities by collecting data and participating in research projects. Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations. Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information. Detail-oriented with meticulous planning and organizational skills while balancing multiple priorities. Ability to demonstrate a positive demeanor and respond to questions in a timely and respectful manner. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

EDUCATION & LICENSES

Associate's Degree in a related field is required. Required licenses and certifications: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI) Registered Vascular Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI) This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

REQUIRED SKILLS
