School Food Service Technician - Full-Time, Benefits Eligible

Job Description Starting Date: Aug 17, 2026 Position Summary: Food Services Technician (6 hrs/day, 179‑day, 6 hr/day agreement). Provides support to the food service activities at the assigned location; prepares and serves food items to students and/or school personnel; maintains food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition. Reports To: Kitchen Manager Position Type: Full‑Time, benefits eligible. Pay Range: $15.85–$22.43 per hour, commensurate with Full Time, parallel years of experience. Essential Functions Arrange food and beverage items for efficient serving to students and staff. Attend unit meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. to gather information required to perform job functions. Clean equipment, storage areas, food preparation areas, and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions. Inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity, quality, specifications, and compliance with health standards. Inventory food, condiments, and supplies to ensure availability for projected menu requirements. Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in compliance with current health standards. Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment. Perform functions of other nutritional services positions, as requested by supervisor, to provide adequate staff coverage. Prepare food and beverage items to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements. Report equipment malfunctions to notify supervisor of need for repair or replacement. Serve one or more items of food to meet mandatory nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills: Adhering to safety practices; operating equipment found in a commercial kitchen. Knowledge: Basic math; reading and following instructions; understanding multi‑step written and oral instructions; safety practices and procedures; food preparation and handling; sanitation practices. Abilities: Scheduling activities, collating data, using job‑related equipment; flexibility to work with others, data, and equipment; problem solving; working as part of a team; working with interruptions; being dependable. Responsibilities: Work under direct supervision using standardized procedures; provide information and/or advise others; operate within a defined budget. Work Environment: Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity. Physical demands include 0% sitting, 50% walking, 50% standing. Working in temperature extremes and conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and illness. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
