Role Description The EHS Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining the facility's Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) management system and monitoring its effectiveness; leading hazard identification and abatement and driving corrective actions to closure; setting annual EHS goals and targets and conducting monthly performance reviews of each department; developing the annual EHS training and drill plan and monitoring execution; leading incident investigation and ensuring disciplined incident management; chairing monthly safety committee meetings and reporting facility safety and environmental status to plant leadership; coordinating cross-functional EHS initiatives; and driving workplace safety standardization to ensure all operations run safely, compliantly and without interruption.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1 EHS Management System & Regulatory Compliance Develop, review and approve facility EHS policies, procedures and written programs to ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OSHA (29 CFR Parts 1910/1926), EPA regulations, and applicable state and local requirements. Maintain the facility's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications; drive continual improvement and ensure the management system operates effectively. Plan and lead EHS internal audits and management reviews; coordinate external certification audits and customer EHS audits. Serve as the primary contact with the EPA and state/local environmental agencies; own environmental permitting (air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste) and all required environmental reporting. Ensure environmental controls for new construction, expansion and modification projects are designed, installed and commissioned concurrently with the project (EHS by design); lead environmental commissioning and acceptance of environmental control systems. Coordinate industrial wastewater discharge compliance with the local POTW / industrial sewer district. Manage third‑party environmental sampling, monitoring and laboratory testing programs. Manage facility waste programs (solid waste, universal waste and RCRA hazardous waste), including waste characterization, container management, manifesting, and due diligence audits of waste disposal vendors; ensure wastewater and air emissions meet permit limits. Inspect and monitor environmental control equipment and operating parameters; drive corrective actions to ensure compliant and reliable operation. Maintain environmental records and logs (manifests, inspection logs, monitoring data, permit records); analyze environmental data, investigate anomalies, and track improvements. Develop and maintain spill prevention and environmental emergency response plans (e.g., SPCC, stormwater pollution prevention) and conduct periodic drills. Liaise with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (fire marshal / local fire department); obtain and maintain required fire protection permits and approvals. Ensure fire protection systems for new/modified facilities are designed and installed concurrently with construction; lead acceptance testing and commissioning. Manage central fire alarm monitoring, alarm impairment control and related record‑keeping. Organize, train and manage the facility emergency response / fire brigade team. Develop emergency evacuation and response plans and conduct periodic drills; evaluate drill performance and improve plans. Conduct fire prevention and life safety inspections; ensure fire protection measures are implemented across the facility. Ensure fire protection equipment (extinguishers, suppression and alarm systems) is inspected, tested and maintained per applicable NFPA standards, including coordination of third‑party annual maintenance. 4 EHS Performance Management & Metrics Establish annual EHS objectives and KPIs (e.g., injury/illness rates, near‑miss reporting rate, inspection findings closure rate). Coordinate monthly EHS performance reviews of each department; verify and publish results. Administer recognition and corrective‑consequence measures in line with the EHS performance management policy. Set annual incident control targets; lead incident investigation and root cause analysis. Drive completion of corrective and preventive actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits. Maintain the facility incident register and OSHA injury/illness recordkeeping (Forms 300, 300A, 301) as applicable. 6 Inspections & Hazard Abatement Organize EHS inspections of all forms (routine departmental inspections, holiday joint safety inspections, special and seasonal safety inspections). Guide the development of abatement plans and corrective measures for serious or higher‑level hazards. Drive and track departments' timely closure of identified hazards; verify abatement effectiveness. Maintain the hazard identification and abatement log. 7 EHS Documentation & Records Develop and maintain facility environmental, occupational health and safety policies and procedures consistent with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements. Drive implementation of EHS procedures and monitor compliance; update programs promptly in response to regulatory changes and site conditions. Manage EHS document control, records archiving and retention. Build and manage the EHS team; plan resources and coordinate all EHS activities. Develop the annual EHS training and drill plan (new‑hire orientation, OSHA‑required training, emergency response exercises); monitor completion and effectiveness. Chair the monthly safety committee meeting; regularly report safety and environmental status to plant leadership and corporate management.
