Overview

Position Summary

The BCBA may work in the following capacities: 

Outpatient program to provide therapy and/or within the Early Intervention Program.

Supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians onsite or remotely.

Organization Description

United Services for Children is a nonprofit organization that provides pediatric therapy and early intervention services to children of all abilities and offers support services for their families. Located at 3420 Harry S. Truman Blvd. St. Charles, MO 63304 

Working Conditions

Everyday conditions are in a typical clinic/classroom environment. Must be able to: 

• Frequently access and maneuver between therapy and classrooms. 
• Converse in person and via the telephone
• Observe and respond to the physical/emotional needs and behaviors of a child
• Handle, position, move, and manipulate objects such as buttons, fasteners, or diaper tabs
• Be able to reach up to 18 inches horizontally and vertically
• Assume various positions (floor, small chair, etc.) to work with children and prevent injury
• Balance, bend, stoop, or squat to retrieve items from the floor
• Sit at a table/desk for a minimum of 1 hour (may be up to 3 hours)
• Safely lift, carry, and move up to 10 lbs consistently and occasionally up to 45 lbs
• Be able to push and pull 25 lbs

Requirements

Responsibilities

The BCBA must be able to: 

• Manage teams daily (mentoring, training/professional development of staff, planning, problem solving, and implementing evidenced-based ABA practices and behavior management strategies)
• Participate in IFSP/IEP and/or home visits for students with intensive behavior/learning needs transferring into and out of the program
• Oversee RBTs in individualized programming for children, planning of children’s schedules in coordination with therapies, and progress monitoring
• Coordinate services and scheduling for incoming ABA clients
• Conduct assessments to determine treatment planning
• Develop and provide ongoing supervision and implementation of treatment plans
• Implement data collection, graph and analyze behavior, graph and analyze learning acquisition data, and make modifications based on data analyses
• Submit written reports with data-based graphs reflecting ongoing progress
• Provide feedback for evaluations
• Provide justifications/explanations for treatment to insurance providers. 
• Maintain confidentiality for all students in accordance with agency policy
• Assist in implementation of all policies in agency handbooks, legal requirements, licensing regulations, and accreditation standards
• Model a standard of behavior that is consistent with agency expectations at all times

Other duties may be assigned.

Education Qualifications

Must be a Board Certified and State Licensed Behavior Analyst; must have documentation of ABA training with young children.

Experience Qualifications

Experience designing and implementing ABA programs for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (minimum 3 years) is preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge: Requires knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures of ABA evidenced-based practices, educating children with autism, and early childhood education.

Skills: Requires skills necessary to effectively observe and provide constructive feedback to teachers, coach and problem solve with teams, and enhance a team approach among staff. Strong verbal and written skills as well as active listening skills are also necessary. Must possess skills to problem solve individually or as a team.

Abilities: Requires ability to establish rapport with children, families, and co-workers and work with them as a member of a professional team. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed in order to observe staff who work throughout the agency hours of operation. Ability to access and operate computer software (including word processing and database systems) and to stay current with changes in technology. Must be able to function independently on tasks.
