Core Mission: Ensure the 24/7 workforce is legally compliant, safe, and highly engaged

 

Key KPI: Annual Retention Rate and Time-to-Fill

This role is the onsite cultural and compliance anchor, ensuring that the human element of the 24/7 production facility remains engaged, compliant, and safe. You partner with the GM and OM to ensure staffing needs are met throughout the year, rapidly ramping for peak production and deploying rightsizing strategies for the remainder of the year. It owns developing comprehensive compensation plans, including benefits, that fit the business and retain employees.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is the guardian of the "Lean Org" culture and the primary onsite resource for all people-related operations. In a high-growth startup environment, HR is not a back-office administrative function; it is a critical operational partner. You are responsible for ensuring the Carrollton facility is legally compliant, safely operated, and staffed with a high-performing workforce that can scale during Peak Season.

You will balance the tactical requirements of a production floor—such as managing payroll, timekeeping, and workers' compensation—with the strategic need to build a talent pipeline and a culture of ownership. You serve as a coach to the Operations, Warehouse, and Production Managers, helping them navigate employee relations and performance management using our Role Leveling Guidelines. You are the "face" of leadership on the floor, ensuring that every associate feels supported and held to a high standard.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Own the end-to-end recruitment cycle for all production and warehouse staff. Transition the facility from "startup hiring" to a scalable, metric-driven recruiting engine.
  • Compensation and Benefits Strategy: Develop comprehensive compensation plans, including benefits, that fit the business and retain employees. Source and manage benefits providers.
  • Payroll & Benefits Administration: Manage the US payroll cycle, ensuring 100% accuracy in timekeeping and compensation. Serve as the on-site expert for benefits enrollment and inquiries.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Act as the Onsite Safety Officer. Lead OSHA compliance, maintain safety logs, coordinate workers' comp claims, and chair the facility Safety Committee.
  • Performance Management: Champion the Role Leveling Guidelines . Coach managers on delivering fair, high-impact performance reviews and developing "growth roles" for junior staff.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for conflict resolution. Conduct internal investigations when necessary and ensure a fair, consistent application of company policies.
  • Culture & Retention: Develop and execute initiatives to drive employee engagement and reduce turnover, particularly among high-potential Level 1 and Level 2 staff.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or high-volume fulfillment environment.
  • Deep, working knowledge of US Federal and Texas state labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing high-volume recruitment and onboarding in a "startup" or rapid-growth setting.
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or an MBA
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred to support a diverse production workforce.
  • Experience as a Safety Officer or leading OSHA-level safety audits in an industrial environment.
  • Experience implementing or managing HRIS and Payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence leaders at all levels of the organization.

LEVELING EXPECTATIONS

  • Level 1 (Generalist/Junior): Focuses on Execution . Handles single-threaded tasks like timekeeping, payroll entry, and basic high-volume hiring. Operates within established local labor workflows and follows clear compliance checklists.
  • Level 2 (Partner): Focuses on Tactical Strategy . Independently develops retention strategies and leads facility-wide safety audits. Partners with the GM to scope labor needs for Peak and resolves cross-functional team friction.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Level 1: Payroll accuracy %; Time-to-fill for entry-level roles; Completion of safety training logs.
  • Level 2: Annual Retention Rate %; Cost-per-hire; Internal promotion rate (moving L1s to L2s).
