District Support Pharmacist Full Time

Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe & appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe & accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the team to follow the same procedures. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same: demonstrate compassionate care, collaborate with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolve insurance and/or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Support effective management of pharmacy inventory in all pharmacies worked by following and guiding the team to follow inventory best practices, focusing on protecting cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical & technical skills as the industry evolves (including company‑required trainings & CMEs); actively seek opportunities to expand knowledge. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible; empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care at every step. Understand and comply with all relevant federal & state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures to support patient safety and controlled‑substance dispensing. Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular & predictable attendance, including nights and weekends; complete required training within designated timeframe. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist license in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA excluded parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Essential Functions & Core Skills Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks over time, pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs, confirm prescription information and label accuracy. Customer service & team orientation: actively look for ways to help people with a friendly manner, notice and understand patient reactions, respond appropriately. Communication skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, listen actively, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions. Mathematical reasoning: determine total tablets, day’s supply, and appropriate bottle quantities. Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best action among multiple options. Physical demands: be mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, bend, stand, type, and use vision for small tasks. Pay, Hours & Benefits Typical pay range: $60.00 – $76.00 per hour for a full‑time position. Eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program.
