Position Summary Interior Health is seeking a permanent full‑time Lead, Medical Staff Retention and Experience who is passionate about driving meaningful change in healthcare. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees. How will you create an impact The Lead, Medical Staff Retention & Experience role is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and evaluation of multipronged medical staff retention initiatives to facilitate the achievement of the strategic goals and objectives of Interior Health (IH). The Lead will design, develop, implement, evaluate and continuously improve projects and initiatives to build medical staff and operational capacity in support of medical staff retention within Interior Health. The Lead reports to the Manager, Medical Staff Retention & Experience and proactively leads projects to resolve issues, improve processes, and integrate systems that support efficient medical staff retention initiatives. Works across the Medicine portfolio and with key partners to create a welcoming process to support a medical staff member’s life cycle, including support for key lifecycle moments to maintain overall positive experience. What will you work on Develop and implement programs and standards to support Interior Health medical staff retention strategies; evaluate and effect changes to improve services, simplify workflow, and assure compliance with operational and system requirements. Provide timely, reliable data analysis and information to support planning and decision-making, such as preparing briefing notes, reports, and presentations on assigned topics. Review planning and evaluation documents and provide appropriate information and feedback on planning documents. Engage with cross‑portfolio partners to support information system projects, including managing project timelines, facilitating change management strategies, defining tasks, identifying project needs, and reporting on project status. Develop reporting systems, including triaging and tracking systems to ensure goals and objectives are met. Create essential project documents (charters, schedules, product specifications, etc.) and comprehensive project plans on behalf of the project sponsor and with input from key partners. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support assigned projects and advance retention goals, including participation in steering and working groups. Complete research, review leading practice, and develop frameworks, systems or processes to measure and improve retention initiatives. Monitor progress and prepare reports on key retention strategies and initiatives. Manage projects and initiatives effectively within a multidisciplinary and complex environment using proven project‑management principles and methods. Ensure ongoing continuous evaluation of mentoring programs for managers and services, including ensuring projects/programs are data driven, evidence‑informed, and outcome‑focused; maintain expert knowledge related to continuous quality improvement methods and apply these approaches to areas of improvement within their portfolio. Review data and analytics to inform enhancement of retention initiatives. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements and reports unsafe situations to supervisors or appropriate personnel. Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field; Master’s preferred. Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience working within a large, complex health organization, including three (3) recent years of experience in program leadership and/or project management, successfully implementing programs, and change initiatives in a large, complex health organization, and experience in project and/or change management is considered an asset. Professional Project Manager (PMP) designation or equivalent is an asset. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Skills and Abilities Ability to leverage exceptional relationship‑building skills and find innovative ways to communicate and build consensus with diverse groups regarding complex issues. Ability to communicate through a variety of mediums. Ability to work with a diverse group of key partners within and external to IH. Precision and great attention to detail despite short timelines and rapidly changing priorities. Ability to identify and facilitate conflict resolution with diplomacy and political savvy. Demonstrated change management implementation skills. Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix management structure. Ability to be innovative in finding solutions to complex problems. Ability to define own continuing education needs and maintain competency through reading literature, management workshops, seminars, and available educational offerings. Flexibility with respect to how, where, and when work is performed. The position entails unpredictable work hours and competing workload demands. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. A valid BC driver’s license.
