This role supports efficient warehouse operations by accurately processing orders, managing inventory, and handling incoming and outgoing shipments. You will use material handling equipment, including forklifts and RF scanners, to move, store, and track products while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment, ensuring all items are correctly labeled, packaged, and ready for dispatch.
• Conduct regular inventory counts, update inventory records, and promptly report any discrepancies to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Receive incoming shipments by unloading trucks, verifying contents against purchase orders, and storing items in designated locations.
• Inspect products for defects, damages, and expiration dates to ensure only quality items are shipped to customers.
• Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment, ensuring proper handling of all materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse by arranging products systematically and keeping aisles clear of obstructions.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation of all warehouse activities, including shipping and receiving logs, inventory adjustments, and damage reports.
• Use shipment processing software and RF scanners to track, record, and update the movement of goods within the warehouse.
• Collaborate with other warehouse staff and related departments to support smooth daily operations and timely fulfillment of orders.
• Follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines while performing material handling and forklift operations.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of warehousing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• Hands-on experience with order picking, packing, and shipping and receiving activities.
• Proficiency in material handling, including loading and unloading trucks.
• Experience operating forklifts, including sit-down forklifts, or strong willingness to use this equipment.
• Ability to use RF scanners for inventory and order processing.
• Experience with warehouse inventory management and maintaining accurate records.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain high accuracy in order processing and documentation.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with warehouse colleagues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience using shipment processing software.
• Prior experience specifically in forklift operation, including sit-down forklifts.
• Experience in production or manufacturing warehouse environments.
• Experience with inventory control processes and cycle counting.
• Familiarity with quality control practices such as checking for defects, damages, and expiration dates.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive order fulfillment.

Work Environment

This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break, for an 8-hour workday. You will work in an open warehouse environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The role involves regular use of forklifts, sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, and other material handling equipment, as well as frequent loading, unloading, and movement of materials throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
