Operations Director

Operational Director Just Smash is looking for a motivated, dependable, and leadership-driven Operational Director to help oversee restaurant operations, train staff, improve systems, reduce waste, increase profitability, and make sure the restaurant is always operating in top shape. This is a hands‑on leadership role in a very fast‑paced quick-service restaurant environment . We are looking for someone who can move quickly, lead by example, solve problems, train the team, and help improve the overall performance of the restaurant. For the right person, this role could lead to overseeing and managing restaurant locations independently. Role Overview The Operational Director will be responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations, training front-of-house and kitchen staff, improving food waste controls, helping manage the Toast POS system, improving profitability, maintaining restaurant standards, and making sure the business runs efficiently every day. This role requires someone who is organized, hands‑on, quick-thinking, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced restaurant environment. Key Responsibilities Restaurant Operations Oversee daily restaurant operations Make sure the restaurant is in tip‑top shape at all times Ensure each shift runs quickly, smoothly, and efficiently Support opening and closing procedures Maintain food quality, speed, cleanliness, and customer service standards Identify and solve operational problems Improve workflow and restaurant efficiency Ensure company systems, checklists, and procedures are followed Help keep the restaurant clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service Staff Training & Team Development Help train front‑of‑house staff Help train cooks and kitchen staff Coach employees on speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and customer service Train staff on proper food handling and portion control Train team members on reducing food waste Help managers and employees understand daily expectations Delegate responsibilities during busy shifts Hold team members accountable to company standards Build a strong, positive, and productive team culture Food Waste, Inventory & Ordering Help reduce food waste throughout the restaurant Monitor inventory levels and product usage Support food and supply ordering Track waste and identify areas for improvement Help control food costs Make sure products are properly stocked, stored, labeled, and rotated Work with the team to improve portion control and consistency Maintain vendor relationships when needed Toast POS & Restaurant Systems Help manage and improve the Toast POS system Train staff on proper Toast POS usage Ensure menu items, pricing, modifiers, and order flow are accurate Support online ordering and third‑party delivery platforms Help improve restaurant technology systems Create and maintain operational checklists and procedures Use systems to improve speed, accuracy, and customer experience Profitability & Business Performance Help improve restaurant profitability Monitor labor costs and food costs Identify ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency Review sales, reports, and key restaurant metrics Help ownership make better operational decisions Support strategies that improve revenue, speed, customer service, and profit Find opportunities to make the restaurant more organized and more profitable Leadership & Problem Solving Lead by example during busy shifts Handle customer concerns professionally Manage unexpected challenges quickly and calmly Prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment Make smart decisions under pressure Communicate clearly with ownership, managers, and staff Take ownership of restaurant performance and operational excellence What We’re Looking For Has strong leadership ability Can work in a very fast‑paced quick‑service restaurant Is dependable, organized, and accountable Enjoys solving problems Can train and motivate staff Communicates effectively with team members and ownership Understands restaurant operations or can learn quickly Has experience with POS systems, preferably Toast Cares about reducing waste and improving profits Takes initiative without waiting to be told Cares about cleanliness, speed, quality, and consistency Wants to help grow a restaurant brand Restaurant management experience is preferred, but we are most focused on leadership ability, work ethic, dependability, communication, and willingness to take ownership.
