Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees daily operations and ensures all Company processes and procedures are being followed
• Creates, evaluates and maintains thorough familiarity with evolving medical treatment protocols, response requirements, quality assurance procedures, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other Company policies
• Operates Company vehicles in accordance with Risk & Safety policies; is familiar with and abides by traffic laws governing the operation of emergency response vehicles
• Completes all appropriate documentation as outlined in Company policy.
• Fosters and maintains cooperative working relationships with peers, facility staff and public safety personnel.
• Communicates effectively with empathy and compassion to interview patients, their family members, bystanders, other service agency members and facility staff
• As necessary, the Operations Chief will have to get on the truck to complete calls 
• Fosters and maintains excellent working relationships with all internal and external facility staff
• Establishes and enforces policies and procedures that promote company culture and vision
• Conducts self in a professional manner in accordance with the Company’s ‘Standards of Conduct’ policy
• Maintains punctual and regular attendance
• Works alongside HR to maintain the company's recruitment and retention program 
• Manages and ensures the Plan of Action (POA) is reviewed daily to ensure efficiencies and staffing is complete
• Manages supervisors and ensures all their duties are completed effectively and efficiently
• Ensures all attendance points and disciplinary actions are completed alongside supervisors
• Work with dispatch team and dispatch supervisor on any issues regarding calls, patient issues and crew member issues.
• Prepares and analyzes operational and management reports (KPI)
• Budgeting for operations, truck maintenance, supplies, etc. 
• Ensures compliance with OEMS guidelines and handles all OEMS inspections and works alongside management on DEA inspections.
• Runs company meetings and other meetings as needed
• Conducts disciplinary and other sensitive personnel meetings, as needed
• Conducts interviews and is involved with the hiring and training process of new personnel
• Handles any patient or facility concerns and visits patient and facilities check-ins alongside supervisors
• Answers important phone calls after hours from Supervisors and crew members
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & License/Certification:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must have a clean background and ability to pass a drug screen 
• Effective oral and written communication skills; strong listening and comprehension abilities, adaptability to quickly evolving situations, and strong decision making.
• State of Virginia EMT-B and National Registry EMT-B Certification (Required) 
• CPR Certification (Required) 
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (Required)
• 5 years of EMT or Paramedic experience in the healthcare field (Required)
• 2 years of management or leadership experience (Required)
• EVOC (Required)

Working Conditions: 

• Must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays, extended workdays. 
• Long periods inside the ambulance.
• May work indoors or outdoors with exposure to weather. 
• Possible routine exposure to moderate noise levels. 
• May periodically work in poorly lit environments in a moving vehicle

Physical Demands: 

• Moderate to extended amounts of sitting, standing, and walking.
• Some repetitive motion activities. 
• Routinely lifting more than 300 lbs on a stretcher with assistance. 
• Pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, carrying, typing and stair climbing. 
• Visual identification of color-coded items. 
• Clear speech and hearing. 
• Must be able to wear a face mask or respirator with proper fit for extended periods when required
