Patient Transporter

Position Summary

This role involves providing constant observation and non-clinical assistance to patients under the supervision of nursing staff.

• Utilizes specialized skills to perform duties such as feeding, grooming, transporting, positioning, and transferring patients, excluding bathing and toileting.
• Monitors patient conditions, identifying situations needing nursing intervention, and reports updates to nursing staff and management.
• Ensures patient safety, including those in restraints, adhering to industry and hospital standards.
• Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Remains with patients at all times unless relieved by authorized personnel, using verbal techniques to keep patients calm and in bed.
• Contacts nursing staff immediately for changes in patient condition or unruly behavior that cannot be de-escalated.
• Stays fully attentive to patient behavior and condition, avoiding distractions such as personal devices or personal information.
• Follows all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
• Requires lifting and transferring patients to/from wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• No licensure or certification required.
