Growing together.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join an innovative engineering team dedicated to delivering high-quality, scalable cloud-native applications and APIs supporting dental claims, attachment processing, and Image Intelligence capabilities. Our team's vision is to transform healthcare operational workflows through cutting-edge technology, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Microsoft Azure, and AI-enabled intelligent automation. In this role, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle, drive technical excellence, and build solutions that directly impact healthcare quality and efficiency.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and Microsoft Azure technologiesCollaborate with Product, Architecture, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions supporting dental claims, attachment processing, and Image Intelligence capabilitiesParticipate in the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, coding, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvementDrive technical excellence through code reviews, automation, DevOps best practices, performance optimization, and mentoring junior engineersDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on the responsible use of AIUse enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvementEvaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovationYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of software development experience5+ years of experience developing with Java3+ years of experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices2+ years of experience with any cloud-native architecturePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related fieldExperience or familiarity with AI/ML-enabled solutions, document processing, computer vision, or generative AI technologiesExperience building solutions for dental claims processing, attachment processing, or Image Intelligence capabilitiesExperience mentoring junior software engineersDemonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate across cross-functional teams3+ years of experience building, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale distributed applications3+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices3+ years of experience collaborating in an Agile development environment*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
