Position: Interior Design Assistant
Location: Franklin, MI
Job Type: Full-time
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Design Assistant to join an established luxury residential interior design firm. This is a great opportunity for a recent interior design graduate or an individual with relevant design experience to gain hands-on exposure to the creative, technical, and organizational aspects of luxury residential design.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with sourcing furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallcoverings, accessories and other materials.
- Research products, finishes and design resources.
- Request and organize samples, finish materials and product information.
- Assist with client presentations, presentation materials and design boards.
- Support space planning, drawings and design documentation.
- Maintain project specifications, selections and project information.
- Communicate and coordinate with vendors and manufacturer representatives.
- Assist with pricing, product information, lead times and availability.
- Maintain studio sample and resource materials.
- Assist with preparation for client meetings and presentations.
- Provide design, project and administrative support to the Principal Designer and design team.
- Participate in the day-to-day activities of a busy luxury residential design studio.
Ideal Candidate:
- Interior Design graduate or relevant design background.
- Creative with strong design instincts and appreciation for high-quality residential interiors.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Professional and comfortable working closely with firm leadership.
- Resourceful, proactive and eager to learn.
- Able to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative and dependable.
- Comfortable receiving direction while taking increasing ownership of responsibilities.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with interior design and presentation software is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite , or other design/visualization tools is beneficial.
