Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides hands-on support across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits and leave administration, payroll coordination, employee relations, performance support, HR systems, training records, and compliance documentation. Working closely with leaders, supervisors, employees, and external partners, the Generalist applies company policy and employment requirements consistently and helps maintain a positive, accountable workplace culture.

This individual-contributor role requires sound judgment, discretion, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage competing priorities. The Generalist also supports healthcare credentialing and audit readiness under applicable federal and Michigan requirements, and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding:

• Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, pre-employment steps, and new-hire onboarding.
• Coordinate background checks, employment eligibility verification, orientation, and payroll setup.
• Track required new-hire and recurring training so employees complete applicable modules before serving clients.

Employee Relations and Performance Support:

• Support fair and consistent application of policies, corrective action, performance evaluations, and feedback processes.
• Coordinate payroll processing and 401(k) contributions; research discrepancies, correct errors, and prepare routine reports for leadership.
• Serve as a day-to-day liaison with health, dental, vision, disability, retirement, payroll, and other HR vendors.

HR Operations and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential personnel files, HRIS records, training records, and related documentation.
• Protect sensitive information and follow records-retention and access-control requirements.
• Maintain documentation needed for internal reviews, payer requirements, and external audits.
• Conduct periodic audits of personnel, credentialing, training, and certification records; follow up on missing or expired items.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 1–2 years in a management or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of employment law, EEOC, FMLA, ADA, and other federal/state compliance requirements
• Experience managing HR compliance programs and conducting internal audits
• Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
