About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of MedSurg or PCU experience required. License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required. Must-Have: Strong post-surgical competencies required. Telemetry remote monitoring skills. Experience in colostomy care and feeding tube management. Pre/Post hemodialysis management knowledge. Ability to access and manage ports. Experience in blood product administration. Proficient with peripheral line care and management. Familiarity with PICC line management and starting IVs. Knowledge of heparin and insulin administration. Experience with PCA and surgical drains. Chest tube management skills. High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) usage. Nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management. Oral suctioning and oxygen administration skills. Tracheostomy management experience. Isolation precautions familiarity. Wound care experience, including wound vacs. Description: Holiday coverage is required; however, any requested time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands. 36 or 48-hour shifts are available; please indicate preference. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Must be willing to float to other medical surgical units, ICU, and emergency department as needed. Patient ratios may be 1:6; they may flex higher, with support staff available on-site in rare occasions. Daily census typically averages around 47 patients. Unit supports various interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Patient population includes those undergoing general surgical procedures as well as some medical overflow and off-service patients pending status.
