Plant Operator

Summary:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for production and distribution of our product line, which includes controlling the inventory and maintaining the facility and equipment.

Essential Skills and Functions: The employee shall work well under pressure to meet multiple deadlines. At all times, the employee shall demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisor, colleagues, and all guests to Black Hills Litnite’s site, which includes vendors, drivers, and customers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

•Operates the bulk bagging system to package products into bulk bags and 50 lb. bags according to specifications.

•Stages, stacks, and palletizes bulk bags and 50 lb. bags for storage and shipment.

•Loads and unloads trucks using a forklift and other mobile equipment.

•Operates mobile equipment in support of drying, sizing, and bagging system operations.

•Completes pre-shift equipment and area safety checks and immediately reports hazards, near-misses, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

•Follows established workplace instructions and SOPs.

•Performs in-process quality checks as needed and reports inconsistencies or equipment issues to the supervisor.

•Inventory Control: Creates scrap reports and assists with month-end reports that are required to ensure that sufficient materials are available.

•Cleans and maintains the work area, bagging equipment, and surrounding yard to maintain a safe and orderly appearance.

•Must perform tasks with integrity, competence, care and attention to detail, and demonstrate sound judgment

•Attends and actively participates in safety meetings and required safety training.

•Computer skills for maintaining shipping records (Excel) and emailing (Microsoft Outlook).

Physical requirements and skills of the position

1. Lifting capacity between 75-100 pounds
2. Must be able to climb ladders
3. General knowledge of machinery operation & repair
4. Ability to operate a forklift and pass forklift training
5. Must have valid driver’s license and pass drug screening as required
