Role Summary

The Head of People is Pulmonx's senior People leader, reporting directly to the COO and serving as a trusted partner to the Executive Leadership Team. This role has leadership and functional responsibility for talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, training and development, onboarding, policies and procedures, and legal compliance for a global, publicly traded medical device company.

Responsibilities and Capabilities:

Executive Partnership & HR Leadership

• Serve as the primary People advisor to the CEO, COO and senior leaders on workforce, organization, compensation, and employee matters
• Lead the HR function end-to-end with accountability for results, execution quality, and service delivery
• Establish clear HR priorities, operating rhythms, escalation paths, and decision frameworks for leaders and managers
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing HR team, including developing strong HR Business Partners

Talent & Performance

• Oversee talent acquisition strategies across corporate, manufacturing, and commercial functions, with particular focus on sales hiring quality, cadence, and long-term role fit
• Drive workforce planning and talent management processes, including capacity forecasting, critical role identification, succession considerations, and alignment to near- and mid-term business priorities
• Own performance and talent management processes, including performance improvement plans, talent reviews, calibration, and development actions embedded within role readiness and performance outcomes

Compensation & Total Rewards

• Design and oversee competitive and equitable compensation and benefits programs aligned with market practices and public-company requirements
• Partner with Finance and leadership on compensation planning cycles, including merit, bonus, and promotion decisions
• Provide guidance on job leveling, titles, internal equity, and market benchmarking

Employee Relations & Manager Enablement

• Serve as an expert resource for leaders on complex and sensitive employee relations matters

Ensure consistent and compliant handling of performance issues, disciplinary actions,

• terminations, and documentation
• Coach managers on performance management, workforce decisions, and policy application

HR Operations, Systems & Compliance

• Ensure effective HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including benefits administration, HR documentation standards, and service delivery effectiveness
• Oversee HRIS with accountability for data integrity, reporting accuracy, and scalable workflows
• Leverage workforce, compensation, and performance analytics to inform decisions and influence leaders
• Manage compliance with U.S. and international employment laws, public-company requirements, and SOX-related HR controls

Global HR & Governance

• Coordinate HR support across regions, partnering with local advisors as needed
• Ensure adherence to local employment laws while driving appropriate global policy consistency
• Support Board and Compensation Committee agendas related to employee engagement, compensation, succession planning, and risk management, as appropriate

Requirements:

• Minimum 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least five years in senior or executive-level HR roles; international HR experience in a medical device or life sciences commercial company is a plus
• Strong ability to partner, influence, and coach across all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated capability to translate business priorities into integrated people strategies that drive near- and mid-term results
• Strong business insight and analytical skills; comfortable using data and analytics to inform and influence decisions
• Experience building, leading, and mentoring high-performing HR teams, including HR Business Partners
• Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
• SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred

Compensation:

$265,000 - $285,000
