Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients with a wide range of acute conditions. This role involves patient assessment, management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction, administration of emergency medications and blood products, and performing critical procedures such as phlebotomy and IV placement. The ER RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong clinical skills and effective communication. At least one year of experience and certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are required.

Responsibilities:
- Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs in the emergency setting.
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
- Administer blood products, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV paralytics, and sedation.
- Provide central line care and management.
- Perform phlebotomy and start intravenous lines as mandatory competencies.
- Administer procedural sedation and manage isolation precautions.
- Utilize Epic electronic health record for documentation and charting.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Float to other units as needed based on census demands.
- Work every other weekend as scheduled.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Emergency Department nursing.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS.
- Competency in phlebotomy and intravenous (IV) line placement.
- Proficiency in managing emergency medications, blood products, and critical care procedures.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred.
- Experience with continuous IV sedation and paralytics.
- Knowledge of CVA (stroke) management protocols.
- Familiarity with isolation precautions and infectious disease control.
- Ability to work with mixed/shared acuity patient ratios.
- Float to other units when census warrants.
- Every other weekend work is required.
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) restrictions.
- Block scheduling accommodations may be attempted but are not guaranteed.
- Must wear scrub colors in any combination of navy and white.
- Shift schedules may vary with block schedule attempts.
- Work every other weekend as part of the rotation.
- Typical shifts are aligned with standard ER nursing hours and may include day, evening, or night shifts depending on assignment.
