Technical Writer Opportunity

The Contingent Plan is actively recruiting an experienced technical writer for a client in the San Diego area. This is a 6 month assignment that may be renewed. This full-time role is an immediate need and the client will move quickly with the right candidates. Responsibilities include collaborating with multiple departments to establish standardized procedures and work instructions in accordance to PIL, PQMS, and Excellence Process Framework requirements. The role also involves working with users and subject matter experts to ensure functional requirements and technical specifications are aligned per written procedures. The technical writer will collect data by interviewing specialists, technicians, review of written materials and observing users. They will understand and document linkages, relationships and dependencies. Effective communication with team members and other groups to ensure consistent and complete requirement documentation is essential. The ability to escalate issues to management as appropriate and in a timely fashion is also required. The technical writer will acquire and apply knowledge of the business and of overarching standards that apply to the project scope. They will be able to embed images, system screen shots in procedures to illustrate documentation. Authoring and/or revising QMS documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions, forms, templates) using document management system is part of the role. Participation in project teams and successfully managing complex, multiple projects from concept to release under tight deadlines is necessary. The ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities is crucial. The technical writer will also participate in the development of training material that will be used to support the deployment of the system.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Pharmaceutical and/or medical device experience is preferred. Understanding of cGMP, ISO13485, and regulatory requirements is necessary. Three years of experience working as a technical writer is required. Project management experience is preferred. Exceptional technical writing skills, excellent verbal communication skills, well-organized, efficient, and able to prioritize work and meet deadlines are essential. A can-do attitude and commitment to stay in organization more than 90 days is required. The technical writer must be able to work independently, be detail oriented in order to generate accurate and precise work.
