Job Opportunity: Ophthalmologist - Retina Specialist

The Department of Ophthalmology at our organization, in collaboration with a local VA hospital, is looking for a full-time Ophthalmologist specializing in Retina .

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional patient care.
• Engage in clinical teaching for medical students and residents.
• Participate in clinical and/or basic research initiatives.

We will offer an appropriate academic appointment based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited training program.

Our Department of Ophthalmology, which includes the main facility and four additional satellite locations, along with the nearby VA hospital, manages over 65,000 patient visits annually . The team consists of 35 clinical faculty members (17 full-time and 18 part-time) who provide excellent mentorship and expertise across various subspecialties. A dedicated team for resident education, including the Program Director, Vice Chair of Education, Residency Coordinator, and two co-Chief Residents, oversees the training of four residents each year.

We also feature a state-of-the-art VR Simulation program designed for training ophthalmology residents, medical students, and residents from other subspecialties. Our comprehensive calendar of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs offers valuable exposure to regional and national experts in vision research and global eye health, culminating in an annual city-wide surgical wet lab for the 72 residents in the Chicago area.

Our research team includes eight full-time basic science faculty members. The main research facility, the Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE) , spans 225,000 square feet and was inaugurated in 2015. It houses the Clinical Research Office and research administration, with a large HVA research facility conveniently located nearby.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive starting salary ranging from $159,000 to $985,945 .
