Smith Industries is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Saw Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for cutting raw materials to specification, operating shop equipment, and supporting production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and inspect the saw daily to ensure safe operation.

Read blueprints and Bills of Material (BOMs) to cut materials to the required specifications.

Measure and cut material accurately using a tape measure.

Replace saw blades and maintain coolant and water levels as needed.

Label cut materials and drop material with the appropriate information.

Cut material for the Vessel Shop and Tank Shop.

Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.

Complete daily equipment inspections and required production documentation.

Communicate effectively with shop supervisors, leads, and production teams.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Work weekends as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Manufacturing or saw operation experience preferred.

Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.

Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
