About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Bossier City, Louisiana, 71111!

• Provide direct patient care in a 10-bed SICU setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex conditions including respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, neuro cases (craniotomies, spinal surgery, TBI), and surgical patients (general, total joints, urology, neuro)
• Perform and assist with ventilator management, intubation and extubation procedures, and CVL management and placement
• Manage foley catheters and tube feedings via NGT or PEG
• Apply stroke experience and NIHSS assessment skills in the care of neurologically complex patients
• Pass a required EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival
• Float as needed to Stepdown, Stroke, and MedSurg units; frequent floating to MedSurg is possible

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana or a compact state
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in acute care
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• First-time travelers must have a minimum of 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care; travelers previously employed as permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

• Prior experience with Meditech Expanse EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Demonstrated stroke care experience and comfort with neurologically complex patient populations
• Experience in a travel or contract nursing capacity with flexibility to float across multiple unit types

• Traveler-friendly unit culture with robust support resources including a Resource Nurse, Charge Nurse, IV/VAT Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, in-house Hospitalist, and OT/PT/ST services
