Job Location: Primarily Overseas (up to 75% OCONUS); CONUS periods in Baltimore, MD

Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Exempt

Travel : 75% OCONUS; CONUS periods in Baltimore, Maryland

Salary Range :  $85,700.00 - $117,100.00

Position Description

As a Junior Field Engineer, you will support the readiness, integration, configuration, and technical performance of GARC systems and associated platforms operating in fleet environments. This role involves hands-on engineering support, hardware/software integration, software installation and verification, system troubleshooting, configuration management, technical documentation, and field operations during sustained overseas deployments lasting 90–120 days, followed by approximately 30 days in CONUS before the next deployment cycle.

You will operate in industrial, austere, maritime, and on-water environments—often OCONUS—supporting technical operations, system and software integration, RDTE (Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation) events, and fleet exercises. OCONUS assignments may include remote or hazardous overseas locations requiring signed consent to deploy.

While not typically customer-facing, you may occasionally work directly with fleet stakeholders, operators, or supporting organizations during deployments, testing events, or training evolutions.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Field Engineering Support: Provide engineering support for GARC systems to sustain fleet readiness, availability, and mission performance.

• Integration & Testing: Integrate and validate hardware, software, networks, sensors, and subsystem interfaces during laboratory, harbor, shoreline, and on-water operations.

• Software & Configuration: Install, update, configure, and verify software/firmware loads and maintain approved system baselines and configuration control.

• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify system anomalies, isolate faults across hardware, software, network, and subsystem interfaces, and support corrective actions.

• Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs): Implement and verify approved ECPs, upgrades, software releases, and configuration changes.

• Operational Deployment: Deploy globally (up to 75%) to support fleet operations, exercises, technical assistance engagements, and fielding events.

• Documentation & Reporting: Document technical observations, configurations, system behavior, and test results, coordinating findings with engineering, logistics, and operations teams.

• Launch & Recovery Support: Assist with on-water launch, recovery, and mission-execution operations in dynamic maritime conditions.

• Configuration & Asset Tracking: Maintain accurate records of hardware/software baselines, components, updates, and field modifications.

Required Skills/Education

• 1–3 years of experience in systems integration, engineering support, system testing, robotics, software/hardware integration, or related technical operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, software engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or a closely related integration-focused engineering discipline.

• Foundational understanding of computer, electrical, embedded, network, or control-system principles.

• Familiarity with interpreting system architecture, interface diagrams, schematics, network diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Ability to support software installation and verification, system configuration, integration testing, data collection, and hardware/software diagnostics.

• Basic scripting capability (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent) for system configuration, testing, or troubleshooting; software development is not a primary responsibility.

• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in high-tempo, dynamic, and austere field environments.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills for working alongside engineers, operators, and field teams.

• Ability and willingness to deploy overseas for 90–120 days at a time, followed by approximately 30 days in CONUS.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

• Note: Position includes a six-month probationary period requiring at least one full deployment.

Desired Skills/Education (not required)

• Experience with unmanned systems, autonomous platforms, robotics, embedded systems, or maritime systems.

• Exposure to system integration labs (SILs), hardware/software-in-the-loop testing, networked systems, or prototype development environments.

• Experience with Linux, networking, software/firmware installation, version control, system logs, or command-line diagnostic tools.

• Experience working in industrial, maritime, or austere conditions, including naval facilities or test ranges.

• Familiarity with structured safety practices, software/configuration control, engineering change processes, sensors, data acquisition, or test equipment.
