The role is for a Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant position in TBD building with 7.5 hours per day and a 184-day calendar. Compensation and Benefits $25.23 - $29.53, depending upon approved experience Longevity pay after completion of 6 years of employment Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon School Employees Association) Annual step pay increase awarded to eligible employees 8 paid holidays annually 10 paid sick leave days per year 2 paid personal leave days per year 5 paid bereavement leave days per year, per occurrence Up to $2051 per month district-paid contribution toward full-family medical, dental and vision insurance $480 per month opt-out stipend for employees with other health insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 6% district-paid contribution towards Oregon Public Employees Retirement System $55 per month employer match into a tax sheltered annuity when employee contributes $35 per month Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Purpose: The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant contributes to the specialized educational services to students with special needs in the area of speech and language communication. Reports to: Speech Language Pathologist and Principal Nature of Work: The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant works independently following standardized routines under close supervision. The work requires adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations and frequent interaction with students, requiring professional decorum and role modeling for young people. Supervision Exercised: No direct supervision exercised. Interface: Primarily interfaces with students, colleagues, administrators, and families. Essential Job Functions: Assists Speech Language Pathologist with the assessment and treatment of students with speech and language challenges. Provides direct treatment to students in accordance with an established instructional plan under supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist. Assists in planning appropriate interventions for identified students and collecting data to assess effectiveness. Documents student progress toward instructional plan objectives. Works with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce instruction from the Speech Language Pathologist. Conducts speech and language screenings, without interpretation, per specified protocols. Adapts instructional materials for teacher use in the classroom as determined by student needs. Performs various clerical tasks, including maintaining student records and reports, preparing instructional and classroom materials and maintaining speech and language equipment. Required Qualifications Must possess an associate's degree or other certification from an accredited speech language pathology assistant program. Must possess an Oregon state speech-language pathology assistant certification. Must possess an Oregon state driver's license. Must pass a criminal background check. Must be able to read, write, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English. Working Conditions The Speech Language Pathology Assistant works primarily indoors. The position requires clear spoken English, appropriate enunciation and grammar, and the ability to hear and write. The incumbent may kneel, bend or crouch. Potential exposures may include blood-borne pathogens and interactions with students who may have behavioral or health challenges. The role includes high levels of interaction with children from diverse backgrounds.
