About the Position

Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Must have an active Illinois license or be in the application process Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Required IV therapy and phlebotomy skills - Experience with blood product administration and peripheral line management - PICC line management experience - Knowledge of isolation precautions Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. The nurse will work 3x12 hour days from 06:45 to 19:15. The average daily census for this unit is 21 patients. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical setting. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. Weekend work is required, with rotation every other weekend. No on-call shifts are required. The clinician may float as needed within the scope of their practice to meet facility needs. Candidates should be open to accommodated block scheduling. No radius restrictions for local candidates. Ideally, candidates should not request more than 5 days off during the contract. Clients may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty. If more hours are canceled beyond this, the client will incur charges. If candidates are placed on call instead of being called off, that will count as a called-off shift. Special requirements include proficiency in isolation precautions. The facility is an acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds and is recognized as a Magnet hospital. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census reflects 21 patients with a variety of diagnoses. Various interdisciplinary support services are available including physical therapy and pharmacy. Nurses will participate in special procedures such as TPN administration and NG insertion. Additional skills in wound care and remote telemetry monitoring are preferred.
