Underwriting Associate

Underwriting Associate – Commercial Insurance biBerk, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is an A++ rated company rapidly expanding its footprint across the US. This role offers the opportunity to evaluate risks for Workers’ Compensation, Business Owners’, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, and Umbrella policies for small businesses. The shift available is 8 AM–4:30 PM CST. Work is hybrid, requiring in‑office presence in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Job Responsibilities Utilize company underwriting criteria to evaluate risks for various lines of business; Perform independent verification of insured operations; Review and process change requests on in‑force policies; Evaluate in‑force policies at renewal; Participate in underwriting training for new products, directives, and processes; Participate in projects as assigned. Qualifications Preferred Knowledge Strong investigative skills; Ability to utilize the internet as a research tool; Excellent communication and customer service skills; Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment; Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines; Adaptability in a constantly changing environment, including changes to technology, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory conditions. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree, along with a strong score on the Wonderlic test; Prior experience in underwriting is a plus but not required. Compensation The entry‑level rate for this position starts at $20.52 per hour. Higher rates may be available for candidates with commercial property and casualty underwriting experience.
