# Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN – Oncology Telemetry – Ohio

Schedule:

12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights combination based on unit needs). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Weekend shifts variable based on unit needs. 72-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• 36-bed oncology telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to progressive care level
• Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
• High acuity PCU environment with patient ratios of 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for med-surg telemetry
• Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
• Oncology experience preferred but not required – nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this role
• Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of progressive care unit (PCU) experience
• Current acute care experience required (must be working consistently within the last 12 months)
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license)
• Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity levels
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership)

Required Skills:

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Accessing and managing ports
• Blood product administration
• Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs
• Management of cardiac drips (no titration) and PCA pumps
• Feeding tube care and management
• Heparin protocols
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Respiratory support: CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula
• Tracheostomy care and management
• ABG interpretation
• Rapid response team utilization

Preferred Skills:

• Cardiac drip titration and dysrhythmia management
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Wound care and wound VAC management
• Arterial line management
• Surgical drain management
• Phlebotomy
