Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: Day/Night rotating shifts (12-hour shifts); assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on unit needs; ratios of 1:3 for PCU patients and 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients; float required to equivalent or lower acuity units

Highlights:

• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care Unit level of care
• Patients include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses; high acuity PCU and limited med-surg cases
• Oncology experience preferred but not required; RNs with ICU and PCU backgrounds also excel in this environment
• EMR: Epic charting system; equipment includes GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (must be current and active within the last 12 months)
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
• Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation, central line management, accessing ports, blood product administration, cardiac drip management, chest tube care, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula), and tracheostomy management
• Two professional references required: at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role
