Our National Construction Practice serves private clients within all segments of the construction industry, including general, sub- and specialty contractors, homebuilders and real estate developers. Our clients operate both nationally and internationally and our professionals are exposed to projects as small as a single-family home and as large as a professional sports stadium. Our National Construction Practice provides for the opportunity to work and network with others on vibrant projects throughout the Firm. Being a part of the National Construction Practice will allow you to obtain exposure to the various lines of business within the industry including but not limited to internal control documentation and analysis, administrative and back-office restructuring projects, strategic planning, benchmarking, buy- and sell-side diligence services, regulatory compliance projects, litigation support and expert testimony, and other specialty services.Responsibilities:Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables including management letters and other required communications to management and/or Board of DirectorsAssess risk along with design and communicate audit procedures to engagement teamsUnderstand and utilize RSM’s Audit MethodologyManage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staffUnderstand skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors and monitor and review work product that they prepare and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the processIdentify technical accounting matters early and assess impact on financial statements; coordinate with firm specialists as neededSupervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams and function as an in-charge facilitating field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignmentMaintain contact with clients throughout the year to understand impact of significant developments in client’s business and assess impact on current year audit engagementsDevelop others within the Firm through facilitating levels based or industry training, advising on career development or participating in other Firm initiativesSubscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicableAnticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they ariseUnderstand RSM’s lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firmDevelop a strategy to utilize relationships external to the firm with different types of Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth Manage profitability of projectsEnsure professional development through ongoing education Keep abreast of latest developments as they affect GAAP and the Firm’s standards and policiesWillingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on your clientsRequired Qualifications:BS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degreeactive CPA license in the state of residence (or equivalent professional credential) required5+ years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environmentExperience leading teams and mentoring associatesUnderstanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and FASB regulationsA proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationshipsMinimum of 4 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagementsPreferred Qualifications:Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP)Previous experience with construction clients Background in developmentA thorough understanding of construction accounting and revenue recognition, the estimating process, overhead allocation methods, and backlog and related organizationsDemonstrated ability to in-charge on an engagementA strong background for simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clientsAt RSM, we offer a competitive benefits and compensation package for all our people. Learn more about our total rewards at .We believe flexibility and in-person connection both play an important role in how we work and grow.
