Description UNC Hillsborough Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (Clinical Nurse II), preferably with 1 year of acute care experience, to join the 3rd floor, 25‑bed Orthopedic/Surgical unit. Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Responsibilities Education: Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses patient/family/caregiver readiness to learn and developmental level affecting ability to learn. Evaluation of Care: Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with interdisciplinary team. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Implementation: Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects. Performs bedside point‑of‑care testing. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures. Prioritizes care and consults with resources when needed for complex care issues or high‑risk discharge planning. Leadership: With assistance, develops goals for professional growth or limitation minimization. Achieves goals within identified time frames. Applies knowledge of intra/interdepartmental collaboration activities. Participates in unit goal development, performance improvement, cost‑effective care promotion, and safe cleaning practices. Patient Assessment: Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities. Includes physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole before communicating to others. Anticipates discharge needs and builds advocacy relationships with families. Planning: Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. Uses multidisciplinary resources and full‑range communication. Addresses cultural and ethnic issues. Prioritizes tasks for complex patients. Research: Reads relevant journals and brings applicable ideas or questions to staff for assessment of applicability. Education Requirements Graduation from a school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Master’s degree in Nursing within seven years of employment date. Licensure / Certification Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Professional Experience Requirements One year of nursing experience.
