Manual machinist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machine shop equipment-specifically Bridgeport milling machines and manual lathes-to fabricate precision parts, custom tooling, and prototypes based on engineering drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate manual machinery, including Bridgeports, mills, lathes, surface grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
• Machine a variety of materials (aluminum, steel, plastics, copper) to tight tolerances (+/- .001 or better) for custom tooling and machine components.
• Perform self-inspections of parts using standard measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges) to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Determine the appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and fixtures required for each specific job.
• Work closely with the engineering and assembly teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and ensure project deadlines are met.
